A post-Medieval silver threepence of Elizabeth I (1558-1603 AD), minted at London. Initial mark: plain cross, dated 1578 on coin (North 1991: 135, ref: 1998).
Obverse: ELIZABETH.D.G.ANG.FR.ET:HI.REGINA; Crowned bust left with a rose behind the head. Reverse: POSVI/DEV.AD/IVTORE/M.MEV (I have made God my Helper); Square shield on long cross fourchée dividing the inscription with date of 1578 above shield.
