A slightly off-struck and clipped short cross penny of John (AD 1199-1216). Mint of London; moneyer: WILLELM. Class 5b or 5c, c. AD 1205-1210. The obverse legend reads: hENRICVS R-EX; the obverse depicts a crowned bust facing with sceptre. The reverse legend reads: WILLE(LM?): ON LVN, with the VN ligated. Cf. North 1994 Vol I, Nos. 970-971.
