An incomplete cast, copper alloy Middle-Late Anglo-Saxon Ansate brooch dating from about AD 700 - 1000. There is a transverse rib at each end of the D-sectioned bow and at each sub rectangular terminal. Each arm is also decorated with a pair of incised lines which run from the rib to the end of each terminal. There is a double pin lug as well as the stump of the missing catch plate on the reverse; the pin is now missing. It has a dark green patina with patches of dark red patina. The brooch is 55.3mm long, 9.5mm wide at the break, is 13.1mm thick and weighs 13.88g. Illustrations of similarly shaped brooches may be found in West (1998).
