Circumstances of discovery: whilst metal detecting
Description: silver-gilt lozenge shaped object, perhaps a fragment from a dress accessory/ fastener. The object is now broken from the corners closest apart in width. The front is silver-gilt and a ridge runs down the central length of the object, with striation marks, possibly used to add texture to the surface, running perpendicular to the central ridge. On the reverse is soldered a hook, with the pointed end of the hook turned back towards the now broken end.

Discussion: Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
