Roman copper alloy Dolphin type bow brooch, 45mm long, 31mm wide and 14mm thick. The brooch is in fair condition and weighs 11.46grams. It is missing the pin, spring and catch plate. It consists of wide open wings, which are decorated with centrally placed diagonal incised bands with transverse incisions. The wings terminate with a single incised line. The bow is semi-circular in section and also decorated. It has a triangular incised motif at its head which sits above a sub rectangular band formed of four open incised 'leaf' shaped motifs. Below this the bow is plain and contains the remains of a long catch plate.
