An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Colchester derivative Polden Hill (flat wing ends type, West Midlands), cf. Mackreth 2011, 4.d Plate 47. The head, wings and the upper section of the bow survive, the foot, catchplate and pin are missing. The pin is missing. In plan, the brooch is T-shaped, and semi-circular in cross section. The bow head is humped and angular in profile, with cylindrical wings projecting from either side at the top which projects from the head at a ninety degree angle before running down to the break. There are two parallel grooves ridges which join above two raised transverse oval leaf-shaped projections. Below this the remainder of the bow is undecorated. The wings of the brooch has raised circular band with similar horizontal incisions where the head expands and adjacent to the end caps. A complete hook pointing forward on the head holds part of the spring. the spring is complete but the pin is missing. The reverse is flat and undecorated apart from the raised catch plate which is partly visible before the old break.
