Unusual copper-alloy mount, possibly from a book clasp or strap, sub-rectangular plate with slight longitudinal curve, engraved lines flanking a rectangular perforation with recessed sides (to accommodate 'male' fitting on corresponding mount); broad tulip-shaped terminal at other end with three pierced double ring-and-dot. Dimensions of 24 x 43mm. Dates to the 16th-17th century. Compare an example from Foulsham ( NMS-D69B32; HER 39728).
