An incomplete Roman copper-alloy pin of Cool (1990) Group 2. The head of the pin is bun shaped with a diameter of 6.03mm and length of 3.94mm. The shaft has a circular cross-section with a diameter of 3.30mm that tapers to a diameter of 2.52mm. The shaft has an incomplete length of 34.91mm at which point an irregular transverse break is present. Below the head are two transverse collars of 3.67mm and 3.50mm diameter. The two collars and head are separated from each other and the shaft by a groove that reduces the diameter to 2.80mm. The incomplete pin weighs 2.52g and has a total length of 43.57mm.
See PAS record SF-7FD850 for a similar pin and discussion on the date range for these pins.
Bishop, M.C. 1996, fig.11, p.19 &20, no.63 shows a bone pin of similar style however the head is less bun shaped and more pointed than the pin head described in this record.
