Description: A metal finger ring, pale yellow in colour, of Post Medieval date. The ring is complete and is a shallow D shape is section. The hoop is 0.91mm thick and 3.73mm wide at the back flaring to 4.78mm wide at the shoulder. The bezel is rectangular and is no more than a widening of the hoop. It is 8mm wide and 9.5mm long. The bezel is decorated with a central incised star or asterisk. In each corner is a fan of three incised lines. The sides of the bezel are demarcated by a band of herringbone pattern incised lines. Finally, there is a fan of five incised lines on each shoulder. There is no other decoration or evidence of maker's marks.
Discussion: The material of the ring is not certain. It does not appear to be brass or copper alloy, however, it does not look like gold or silver either. The colour is a very pale yellow. The form and decoration suggests a date in the late 18th or 19th Century.
