An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is part of a single looped oval buckle with an ornate outer edge comprised of a series of transverse grooves flanked by two lobed knops. The loop proper has been lost to old worn breaks.
The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 41.8mm long, 5.3mm wide, 4.3mm thick and weighs 7.2g.
Similar examples are illustrated in Whitehead, p.22 and are dated to circa 1250 - 1400.
