Post-medieval copper alloy vessel leg. A tapering D-sectioned leg with an expanded oval knopped foot. The front of the leg is decorated with five vertical ribs running down the length to the foot with grooves between them. The back is plain. It is 46.17mm long, 28.25mm wide, 13.26mm thick and weighs 68.83grams.
Crudely made cast copper alloy vessels were widely used from c.1200-1700 for serving and cooking. Butler et al (2009:4) illustrate four main types of leg used. This is most similar their type B which they suggest was already in use by the late 15th century
