Roman silver spoon of plain and simple form, 99mm long, 21mm wide and 5mm deep. The object is in fair condition with a grey patina and weighs 10.48grams. The object consists of a circular sectioned tapering handle that ends in a point and is bent approximately one third in from the end. The bowl is joined to the handle by an offset, 5mm in diameter and is decorated with a ridge, along the line of the angle. Below this point the shaft is 'pinched' before widening out to form the bowl which may have been oval or pear-shaped in form but is broken towards the tip. The bowl is thin and flat.
There are a few similar spoons on the database, the closest being NMGW-91FCC3 which is dated tentatively as Late Roman.
