A copper alloy Medieval buckle frame. It is a single looped frame and is D-shaped. The bar is straight and not offset, and has a circular, faceted section. The rest of the frame has a D-shaped section with a flat back. There is a notched protrusion at the mid-point of the outside edge, where a pin could rest, and there are two notched and expanded areas on both arms close to their junction with the bar. The metal is worn and corroded so details of decoration are obscured. All around the upper surface of the buckle there are large circular ring and dot motifs of which nine can be determined. The buckle frame measures 25.43mm in length, 30.31mm in width, 4.45mm in thickness and weighs 8.86g. A similar buckle from medieval Norwich is illustrated in Margeson 1993, no.128, and for which a twelfth to thirteenth century date is suggested.
