An incomplete cast copper alloy pin of Roman date. The pin is of Crummy's Type 3 in which the head is bi-conical in form with a pointed top and flat circumferential ridge. The base of the head tapers into the shaft which has a circular section and terminates in a worn break.
The metal has a light brownish-green patina and is worn. The pin is 54.4mm long, 6.9mm in diameter and weighs 7.9g.
A similar pin is illustrated in Crummy, p.29, fig.474, no.480 and dates to 1st - 4th century AD.
