A complete copper alloy Medieval coin weight dating from about 1422-1475. The unifaced weight is sub circular and depicts a crown above a shield with three lis, with additional lis at the side of the shield. According to Withers and Withers (1995: page 39) this type of weight was produced in both England and France for the French ecu and half ecu, during the reign of Charles VII (1422-1461) and for the ecu a la couronne neuf during the reign of Louis XI (1436-1475); they have noted that it is not possible to determine whether this variation was produced in England or France. The weight has a medium-dark green patina.
