Copper alloy with gilding
Buckle. Cast rectangular buckle frame with integrally cast sub-rectangular plate with engrailed end and decoration comprising an incised saltire and a vertical line. An integral rivet of diameter 3.6mm projects from the back of the plate, while a vacant rivet hole of diameter 2.8mm lies next to the edge of the frame. Traces of gilding appear on the plate and frame. Suggested date: Medieval, 1200-1300.
