A complete Medieval silver penny of Edward III (1327-1377 AD) . Pre-Treaty Series C (1351-1352). Initial mark: Cross 1. The obverse depicts the crowned bust facing, with little detail left at the neck and shoulders due to wear. The obverse legend reads: EDWARDVS REX ANGLI, with annulet stops. The reverse depicts a long cross pattee with an annulet in the centre of three pellets in each quadrant. The reverse legend reads: CIVITAS LONDON; the Roman 'N's are reverse-barred. Cf. North 1991 Vol II, No. 1149.
