An incomplete cast copper alloy flanged axehead of early Bronze Age date. The axehead is sub-rectangular in plan with a narrow rounded butt and cutting edge. From the butt the body extends, remaining fairly uniform in width until widening to the splayed blade which is extremely worn and the cutting edge has been lost. There are slightly raised flanges along the sides though each of these are also extremely worn and broken. The surface of the axehead is corroded and pitted with only small patches of the original surface surviving. No casting flashes are visible due to the increase degree of wear.
The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and is extremely worn. The axehead is 90.7mm long, 28.8mm wide at the blade, 20mm wide at the butt end, 10.7mm thick and weighs 103g.
