A copper alloy buckle and plate dating to the Medieval period, 1300-1500. The buckle frame is rectangular in plan, the side directly opposite the plate is rectangular with a groove for the pin, which is missing. The two shortest sides are curved. Attached to the side opposite the groove is the plate which is made from a folded sheet of rectangular metal. The plate has been broken and is filled with soil. There is a perforation in the centre where the sheet is attached to the frame that would have held the pin. Directly opposite this, where the pin has been broken is a rivet to hold the folded sheet together. The metal is green in colour and there are areas of corrosion at the point that the pin would have been and surrounding the rivet. It weighs 7.7g and measures 39.29mm in length, 21.22mm in width and 4.03mm in thickness. For a parallel see Whitehead, R. (1996) Buckles 1250-1800, 27, no. 136.
