A lead button dating to the Post Medieval period. The button is circular in plan with a cast integral shank on the reverse. Only the front face is decorated, it is possible to see the moulded image of a face with long hair, possibly wearing a crown. The edges of the button have been damaged and are bent out of shape in places. The metal is white in colour and is extremely thin. It weighs 14.0g and measures 27.73mm in diameter and 11.58mm in height. For examples of buttons with cast integral shanks, see Egan, G. and Pritchard, F.
