An incomplete Post Medieval cast copper alloy dress fastener. This fastener has decoration on the front and is flat at the rear. This is one of two objects that would have been used together as a hook and eye fastening device to join straps or clothing. although incomplete this piece was probably the eye part of the fastening. The clasp is sub-oval in plan and has a rectangular attachment loop at one end. There is a perforated knop projecting outwards from each side of the oval body of the fastener. These knops are perforated probably for sewing the object to an item of dress (Geake 2001: 42).
At the front, on the main body, the plate is decorated with engraved lines and punched curvilinear shapes forming a floral style of decoration.
