An incomplete cast copper alloy Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch from the late 5th century AD. The foot is D-shaped in cross-section before flattening out. The foot has a zoomorphic terminal with two eyes picked out by raised dots. The object has expanded circular nostrils above the spatulate extension. Above the zoomorphic terminal the foot is decorated with three transverse mouldings. A small amount of the base of the catchplate remains on the reverse. The object has a dark green patina and is in good condition. Similar examples can be found on p105-107, MacGregor and Bolick, (1993). The object can be classified as the foot from an Aberg Group III cruciform brooch dating from the later 5th to the early 6th century.
