Post Medieval cast copper alloy mount moulded in the shape of a double six petalled rose with fragments of leather on the back. The front has a domed centre moulded into a central pellet surrounded by six leaves. The flat outer border and edge is moulded into six further petals with pointed sepals between. The back has a concave centre behind the domed front flanked by two integrally cast spikes for fixing the mount to a leather strap, one is complete and strill holds a lengh of the leather behind it, the other is broken with an old break which has removed the tip. The leather is 2.2mm thick. The mount measures 32.7mm diameter, 8.4mm thick excluding the spikes, 10.4mm including and weighs 14.38 grams. This mount probably dates to the 16th-17th centuries. SOM-DE1BE3 on this database appears identical.
