BROOCH

Unique ID: SF-449531

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A copper alloy medieval annular brooch frame. The frame is faceted and has a constriction for a pin which is in situ. The pin has a ridged collar, and there are further ridges along its length which may have been formed deliberately. The poor quality of the metalwork generally, however, makes this uncertain. The pin tip is sharp and curves upward slightly where it meets the edge of the frame. The brooch measures 18.46mm in external diameter and is 2.87mm in width. It weighs 2.15g.
