A Medieval to Post Medieval cast copper-alloy chape dating to c.1400-1600 . The chape is incomplete with only the front half remaining and missing its copper alloy sheet backing. The chape has a 'scallop' style body with a knop at its apex, measuring 3.24mm in height and 4.41mm wide, and a number of ribs radiating from a central trefoil perforation, measuring 7.44mm in length and 8.23mm wide. There is a horizontal rib before the upper rectangular half with a heart shaped perforation, measuring 7.41mm in length and 7.21mm wide, in the central area. The upper edge of the edge is crenulated. The chape has a weight of 7.74g; an overall height of 37.25mm and width of 27.08.
