A complete cast copper-alloy 13th- or 14th-century medieval bar-mount with pendent loop. The upper surface of the bar mount is rectangular in plan and trapezoidal in cross-section. This is riveted on to a sheet loop which narrows at its base and is folded back on itself, terminating in a squared off stop which is joined to the front section of bar (and, originally, through the belt) by a single copper-alloy rivet which survives retained by an oval rove. The pendant sits within the loop at the bottom of the bar and is quadrilobate in form. The edge from which it hangs is flattened, narrowed and recessed. The surfaces of the pendent are bevelled externally and feature file marks. A direct parallel can be found in Egan and Pritchard (1991, 219, 221; ref. 1189). This example has a dark-grey/green patina with patches of off-white corrosion product in places.
