Flint awl, ovoid in plan and pointed lozenge in profile. On the dorsal end the distal edge is retouched into an awl point. The proximal end is a sharp serrated edge. The left margin is serrated and the right snapped with adjacent flake removal. On the ventral side the distal end is hinge fractured and the proximal end has flake removal.
The flint is mottled mid grey and putty in colour with some inclusions and a tertiary cortex.
Butler (2005) illustrates a similar example on page 169, Fig. 71, No. 3 which is dated to the Neolithic period.
