Pottery body sherd made of gabbroic clay that weathers over the gabbro outcrop on the Lizard in Cornwall. The exterior of the sherd has two rows of oblique parallel incisions, like a herringbone pattern, on either side of an applied cordon running horizontally through the middle of the sherd. The fabric has inclusions of pale felspars, dark augite and mica and is orangey-brown on the exterior and mid-brown on the interior of the sherd. This type of decoration is seen on Grooved Ware vessels, dating from c.2900-2400 BC (Henrietta Quinnell, forthcoming).

Anna Brindley in Cleal & MacSween (1999) illustrates a similarly decorated Grooved Ware vessel from Durrington Walls in Wiltshire, on page 141, Fig.14.3, No.12.
