A cast, copper-alloy, rectangular mount of the Medieval period. The mount is rectangular in plan with an incised and punched, feather-edged line along the border of each of the two longest sides. Between these two lines is a central, wavy line of the same design along the length of the mount. To either side of the central line are incised, elongated comma-shaped motifs. There is a drilled rivet hole close to each of the shorter edges. One copper-alloy rivet is in-situ, the other rivet is missing. There is old damage to the mount around the empty rivet hole, indicating that is was prised off its original fixing point using a tool of some sort.
