An incomplete Medieval cast copper-alloy double-looped annular buckle frame (c. 1400-c. 1500 AD).

The frame is convex at the front and flat at the rear. It is divided centrally by a narrowed bar creating two loops. Each loop is 'D'-shaped in plan and similar in size. There is no indication of a pin-rest. There are two oblique trapezoid projections on one outside edge. These are convex at the front and flat at the rear. The central bar is narrowed and 'D'-shaped in cross-section, flat at the rear. The pin is missing.
This buckle has a mid-green patina overall. There is iron staining at the centre of the bar, indicating that the pin may have been made of iron.
38.5 x 27.9 x 2.4mm. Weight: 6.85g.

Similar buckles with projections have been dated c. 1400-1500 (Whitehead 1996: 46, refs: 267, 268).
Similar buckles have been recorded on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database. For example, see finds: IOW-16BC08; NMS-4E5000; SUSS-D39167 and WILT-81B8B1.
