Post Medieval asymmetrical buckle. The buckle is broadly rectangular in plan with one rounded edge. The strap bar is narrowed and has suffered some damage; it is now broken and only one third remains. The remaining fragment of strap bar has been bent at a c. 20 degree angle. The frame is 'D' shaped in section with a flat back. The pin is missing. It measures 25.5mm long, 18.3 mm wide, 1.5 mm thick and weighs 1.86 g.
Whitehead (2003) illustrates a similar example; no. 561, which he dates from 1575 to 1760 AD.
