MICROBURIN

Unique ID: PUBLIC-F892A7

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A soft hammer struck opaque cream flint with a pinkish hue.It may have been heat-treated to produce long blades. The platform edge is abraded and the dorsal scars are parallel. The truncation is slightly oblique and seems to be through a broken notch. Some abrupt scars remain on the break facet. The usually waste prodduct; microburin has been utilised as a long streak of ventral gloss runs from a burin strike into the edge of the break facet from use as a graver. Butler(2005) illustrates a single angle burin on page 111, fig 44, 1. Berridge(1986) illustrates a microburin on page 14, fig 4, 20.
