A miniature medieval brooch, circular in shape and decorated by sub-spherical bosses, each ornamented with small circular punches. The pin rests between four of these bosses and is intact, though slightly bent out of shape.
The brooch is silver-gilt, the gilding retained in particular around the punch-marks on the individual bosses. It dates from the thirteenth century.
Notes:
Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
