A Medieval, lead, biconical, decorated spindle whorl. There is a central hole 10mm in diameter, the whole object being 32mm in diameter. One face is highly decorated in a moulded, raised design of, what appear to be, pseudo letters. One part of the design, however, is clearly a heart shape and, to one side of this, what may be a conjoined letter A and letter M, possibly representing AVE MARIA, a legend that has been noted on other spindle whorls. The opposing face of the whorl is also decorated with a raised, moulded design of sinuous leaf and plant-like shapes but is very worn and difficult to see clearly.
