A cast copper-alloy pipe tamper of modern date. It is in the form of the bust of Admiral Rodney on a cylindrical column that s decorated on the front face with crossed flags and on the back with an anchor and rope. Around the base of the column is a projecting collar or plinth, with the name 'RODNEY' incised on the front face. The entire object has worn surfaces and measures 63.19mm in length, 21.13mm in width, 10.65mm in thickness and 36.09g in weight.
This is a decorative pipe tamper commemorating Admiral Rodney (First Baron Rodney) and his naval victories against the Spanish, French and in the New World. It is likely to date to the later 18th century AD, perhaps c.1782-1800 AD, if not later.
