A group of six pieces of medieval ceramic vessel, all wall sherds.
Three pieces are dark grey. They have a hard and rough fabric with irregular breaks. There are large quartz grit inclusions making the surface pimply, with some flecks of gold coloured mica, and larger black particles.
One sherd is similar in composition, but has buff to pink outer surfaces with a light grey core.
Another sherd has a softer fabric, still with many quartz inclusions but smaller and with many more dark grey pieces which are smaller again (grit?). The fabric is very light grey, almost white, fading to buff on one face. The buff face has a patch of pale yellow glaze. The other face has splashes of clear glaze which makes the white fabric appear golden.
The last sherd is ridged on both faces. It has a dark red core and black blistered glaze on both faces. The inclusions are small pieces of quartz, but the sherd is not pimply. This is probably a late Medieval to Post Medieval development of Cistercian Ware and is a little later in date than the other sherds.
