Iron
Axehead fragment. Blade fragment from a narrow bladed carpenter's axe. The surface is solid with angular edges, and this suggests the object may now comprise the solid metal core remaining after the loss of outer layers of corrosion. However, the tapering section is well preserved, so a relatively recent date may be indicated. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1700.
Length: 73.8mm, Width (cutting edge): 46mm, Thickness: 9.9mm, Weight: 111.56gms.
