A fragment of a cast copper alloy vessel of medieval date. The fragment is the foot and lower leg portion of a probable cooking vessel. The leg is roughly D-shaped in section and widens towards the base of the foot which is flat. Two protruding ridges extend down the front of the fragment and a casting flaw is present protruding from one edge. The reverse of the leg and base of the foot are flat and undecorated. The break at the top of the leg fragment is very worn and pitted.
The metal is a mid greenish-brown colour and is worn. The fragment is 46.5mm long, 34.2mm wide, 26.8mm thick and weighs 85g.
While it is not possible to allocate this fragment to a specific type a mid 13th to 16th century date is generally accepted for copper alloy cooking vessels.
