19 pieces of flint debitage, summary weight 42.74 grams plus one large core refreshment flake, 20.94g. Most appears to be from flake production where this can be identified. Most are tertiary pieces with some secondary pieces. The remaining cortex suggests it is pebble flint. Mostly dark grey to black flint, some with paler mottling and a few translucent pale grey-buff pieces.
Notes:
Part of a large collection of worked flint from the same field. The group included cores, scrapers, debitage, retouched flakes and some broken segments of blades but no other distinctive tools. The presence of burnt and work flint plus the generally proportions of the squat blades may suggest a Neolithic to Early Bronze Age date. There were a few pieces of worked chert. Liming flint was also found in the field but not recorded.
