Complete but worn cast lead alloy token of uncertain date. The design of the token is unclear but is superfically reminiscent of some Roman coins with a possible bust on one side and standing figure or figures on the reverse. It has been suggested, by the finder, that the token may be a lead token of the Roman era (sometimes known as tesserae). The bust, however, when viewed at a certain angle appears to show a head wearing a Medieval style hood whereas the reverse may show a triangular shield.

This lead token has a larger, thinner flan than those of the later post-Medieval period & is therefore not typical of the more frequently found tokens usually dated to the 1600s-1700s.

This token has been dated broadly from the Roman era to the post Medieval period pending the finding of a good datable parallel.
