Description: Thimble made from thin silver sheet.

The wall and crown are covered in regularly spaced circular indentations. The lower section of the wall has a wide band with a double incised line around the circumference filled with oblique lines, this design is repeated below a plain undecorated band. The inside of the thimble is plain and undecorated.

It is 19.46mm long, the wall is 0.0.73mm thick. The body is 14.18mm in diameter and the crown is 12.14mm in diameter. It weighs 3.06 grams.

It is 17th century in date, with similar examples reported through the Treasure Act such as WMID-962A51 (2007 T43).

The object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal and is over 300 years old. Consequently it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996 in terms of both age and precious metal content.
