A cast copper alloy one-piece Late Iron Age (La Tene 3) boss-on-bow brooch. The intact pin sits within the remains of a broken catchplate.
Notes:
Justine Bayley comments:
The step on the bow is because the end of the bow is hammered out and folded back on itself, and this change in profile is to accommodate this extra piece of metal. Originally the brooch would have been considerably longer than it now is; the catchplate would have extended beyond the end of the pin, which was probably not quite as bent as it now is.
