An incomplete copper-alloy enamelled headstud brooch of Roman date. The wings are rectangular in plan and rectangular in cross section. The bow projects outwards as a ninety degree angle and widens slightly before curving and narrowing towards the foot. The bow has a circular projection which is decorated with a central raised circular section surrounded by a circumferential groove which contains traces of enamel. A raised longitudinal ridge is visible along the remaining length of the bow which contains two lines of triangular recesses which point inwards and a line of central lozenegeform recesses. The triangular recesses are filled with traces of enamel. The reverse of the brooch is flat and undecorated. The catchplate is incomplete and bent.
