A corroded and slightly damaged copper-alloy single-looped buckle frame of medieval date. The frame is oval with a narrow and offset bar; the pin is missing. Flat on its lower surface, the outer edge is thick and bevelled externally. The upper surface of the outer edge is decorated with a symmetrical scrolled foliate pattern moulded in low relief; this extends in curves along the sides. At the centre of the internal side of the upper surface, where the scrolling is addorsed, is a triangular nick that acts as a pin rest. The buckle is a corroded red-brown colour with patches of a dark-green patina and patches of off-white corrosion product. This is consistent with gilding although no gilt survives. As well as the loss of the pin, the pin bar has been bent downwards around its centre as a result of old damage.
