Post medieval cast copper-alloy flat circular button. The button has a moulded front with a legend around the outer border arranged so both words are upright: BRIDGWATER VOLUNTEERS. In the central field is a castle with a large central turret on a bridge. The back is plain with a seperately formed central copper-alloy loop. There are traces of a black substance on the back and front. It is 23.9mm in diameter, 1.4mm thick excluding the loop, 6.0mm including and weighs 4.44 grams.
The Bridgwater Volunteers started in 1794, they were active in 1803 and 1804 and all the Somerset Volunteer Force units were disbanded in 1813.
