Description: A silver stud comprising two circular discs joined by a central, circular-sectioned shank. The relief-stamped design on the head consists of a crown above two hearts, with a stippled field surrounding. A rim extends around the circumference of the head, as it does on the slightly larger back plate.

Discussion: Treasure case 2008 T467, from Wharncliffe area, South Yorkshire, provides a direct parallel for this stud. The suggested date is late 17th century.
I can confirm that this find contains a minimum of 10 per cent silver.
This find qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996 in terms of both age and precious metal content.
