A copper-alloy furniture fitting of 18th-19th century date.

The fitting consists of a plate cut from a sheet of copper alloy with a separately attached latch and rotating stud. The item is a latch/lock fitting for a desk or cabinet.

The stud, a convex disc decorated in a scallop-like fashion on its face and retaining a cast integral shank on the reverse could be mistaken for an object of earlier date if found independently.
