Cast lead spindle whorl probably dating to the Medieval period, (1100-1500). The object is circular in plan and biconical. The object has a central circurlar perforation which is damaged on one face of the object. Traces of linear decoration can be seen on one face. The object has a dusty white patina and is worn.
Similar examples of spindle whorls have reportedly been found in contexts dated from the Roman through to the Post-Medieval period although the majority are typically dated broadly to the Medieval period c.1066-1500.
