A fragment of grey lava quern stone of possible Roman or later date, probably imported from the Rhine. The fragment terminates in old breaks at both ends but preserves part of the curved outer edge as well as the grinding surface, which has radiating transverse ridges. It measures 116.77mm in width, 95.87mm in length, 34.44mm in thickness and 378g in weight. This quern is possibly of Roman date, although a later, Medieval, date cannot immediately be ruled out.
