A corroded and broken probable late early-medieval cast copper-alloy stirrup terminal (11th century AD). The recessed back would have enclosed one of the arms of the lower part of the stirrup (Williams 1997, 1). This hollow may contain traces of the lead solder by which the terminal appears to have been attached to the stirrup. The terminal is of a simple, trefoil design, with small lateral fleurs. The attachment end has received an old, diagonal break, extending right down to the shelf on the back, that is in line with the centre of the side fleurs. Apart from the moulding on the back the object is flat with rounded corners. It seems to be plain. It has corroded to a red-brown color with a light dusting of light-green corrosion product. For stirrup terminals of trefoil form see examples mainly from Norfolk published in ibid. (1997, 3; fig. 4i).
